Hokusai Audio Editor Examine App

Wow ! De tous les éditeurs audio que jai essayé, celui répond enfin a mes attentes ! Bien lire laide (en anglais) pour ne pas passer a coté de certaines fonctions. Le copier/coller audio vers dautres apps et payant mais vu que lapp est gratuite ! Ya même lintégration Dropbox Bref, pour ma part cest un sans faute !

Pour lédition et la gestion des enregistrements audio est possible même si la manipulation des pistes nest pas très aisée. Importer de sa bibliothèque musicale est facile en passant par iTunes. Le faire directement serait mieux et surtout exporter vers sa bibliothèque serait idéal.

Appli excellente, un véritable logiciel de traitement et denregistrement, de plus gratuit. Cépendant jaurais aimé la possibilité de pouvoir enregistrer les flux audio directement à partir du navigateur safari. Sinon excellent

Au premier abord complet, il se révèle inutilisable au final. Linterface est incompréhensible et la gestion du tactile est défaillante; il faut sy reprendre a 4 ou 5 fois pour sélectionner une partie, grosse pagaille et prise de tête assurée entre zoom, dezoom, play, selection ... (sa sent le portage baclé). Le plus gros problème cest que aprés un "crop" puis un "fade-in" il reste toujours CLIP AU DEBUT ce qui rend le sample INUTILISABLE. Jespère à chaque nouvelle mise à jour que ce problème soit réglé mais apparemment cest au dessus des compétences de léditeur qui a simplement copier/coller le code de base. Les mises a jour nont servis quà inclure des filtres inutiles et prendre des sous via une version pro. Si vous avez du son a retoucher proprement passez votre chemin.

Certains fichiers audio que jimporte depuis iTunes ne saffichent pas. Les fichiers trop longs ne sont pas compatibles. Et le logiciel plante 1 fois sur 3 sur mon iPad. Dommage...

Le meilleur éditeur audio iOS qui permet denregistrer, gérer les échantillons (découper, retravailler, appliquer des effets), un peu comme Goldwave le ferait sur Windows ;) Lapp génère même des waveforms comme un synthé et a un processeur deffets. Cest un studio audio (no MIDI) complet. Le prix du débridage in-app est largement justifié.

Ça fait son boulot. Je men sert après avoir bossé sur lordi, pour pouvoir retravailler quelques parties pendant les répétitions (diffusion dambiance sonore, électroacoustique sur des pièces de théâtre, pour partager son boulot, et pour diffuser plutôt que de trimballer lordinateur) On regrettera cependant labsence dune fonction partage vers Soundcloud et la possibilité de mettre des couleurs pour pouvoir sy retrouver plus facilement. Le zoom est très lent pour afficher les formes dondes mais bon rien de très grave. Par contre, il arrive que lApp plante en appliquant un effet...

Je ne peux pas me servir de lapplication pour faire du montage son de longue durée : limport de fichier son long ne fonctionne pas bien et ensuite sur la timeline il ny a pas dindication de temps ! cest tout de même assez étrange !

Bonne app , mais une mise a jours serait la bienvenue car il semble que ios 6 permet de mieux gérer les latences daffichage , quelques bug pour des traitements deffets, il manque un bouton pour faciliter la sélection de boucle et surtout un menu flottant serait e bienvenus car sur ipadmini cest pas facile , cette app mériterait dêtre dans les 4 euros en létat .

Je lai depuis longtemps. Je viens de faire un tour des apps "prise de son et mixage" (sans instruments et innombrables effets qui me sont inutiles), et je ne vois rien de nouveau à part cette app. Indispensable pour faire des mix convenables sur de nombreuses pistes. Elle na effectivement pas beaucoup évoluée.

Peut-être la meilleure application de montage audio. Je men sers pour enregistrer tes textes à destination daudiobooks et cest vraiment très bien pour éditer, insérer, modifier et appliquer des effets simples tels que le compresseur ou le noisegate et une égalisation pour la voix. En revanche, il semble quil y ait encore des bugs sur cette version car lapplication naffiche plus les formes dondes au-delà de trois ou quatre coupes et éditions, il faut sortir et tuer lappli puis revenir et se recaler dans le morceau à lendroit où on la quittée. Cest pénible, jespère que de prochaines mises à jour régleront ces petits problèmes. Encore bravo à léquipe, malgré des efforts à réaliser sur la stabilité de lapplication !!

Ce nest pas un recorder top niveau mais ses fonctions (visualisation sélection du signal, importation cia itunes etc...) la place en tête des petites applis du genre. Peut servir basiquement à travailler des mémos musicaux.

Tolles app

It would be the best editor ever if it had auv3 support. The interface is so good, there’s tons of functionality, being able to use my favorite pugins would be the ultimate, i’d pay extra

just what I was looking for to stitch audio recordings together, GarageBand is garbage. This is a great and simple app

I can say that it is a wonderful app. Please develop it, change the icon, etc. Of course, don't destroy the simplicity that is the key to success in anything. Congratulations to you and your team. Good luck.

Though the progress was at least still in tact while it closed on me, it’s extremely annoying.

it's so cool you must gitt thiss

The editing is fantastic. Separating channels from stereo works great! I do wish there were recording quality settings tho. I use rode mic to record. I want to make sure I’m getting my full 24bit recording quality or .caf. Same for sharing too. Need 24 bit or 320kbps aac.

Since your last update, I can't highlight any section on any track with my mouse. I don't use touchscreen as I dislike soiling my tablet. I'm a constant user of Hokusai, and I can't believe you ruined a perfectly good app this way. I hope you can fix this, but you ruined an entire week's worth of work for me. Shameful.

I’ve had this app for about 5 years! Will never let it go! Never had 1 issue with it! Sound quality when transferring is amazing, perfect! Features are exactly what an artist needs and the extras are enough to create a commercial song 💪🏽 I’ve used it to create entire songs, layers and all, voiceovers for social media, journaling, and simply talking to myself (I’m an introvert 🤣) In all seriousness - this app is the best app I’ve ever used and I mean that with everything! Please do not change anything! Thank you for taking your job seriously and thank you for making something of such quality 🙏🏽 Money well spent!

Hi, I am a Pro user of this software. It hasn't been updated for a year, and I'm a bit concerned. Will the developers continue to maintain this software?

First thing when saving compressed files give more options like 320 kbps which for a typical file comes around 4-6 mb right now it’s jist 160 kbps option only which is terrible. It must have minimal 320kbps 44khz default option. Or give more preset options like 256 and 320 minimal under compressed version. Only other option is wave which is either too large for no reason or too low. So the 320 kbps is perfect medium quality size.

Not only is this a wonderful app for editing on the phone, but the developer has made it accessible to blind and visually impaired folks using voiceover, apples built-in screen reader. I know it is designed for music, but I find it a fantastic tool for producing and editing my podcast. this is one of those apps that I would gladly pay a subscription to keep it updated.

Good app

This is exactly what I wanted. Record some tracks. Monitor audio and record more. Some simple effects yet effective. A minimalist interface. Easy to understand buttons and such. It’s what I wanted: straight up. I’ve tried other apps but as a person who doesn’t know the craft this is what I need.

I am a singer/songwriter and I was looking for something like this for a long time with no luck! About a year ago I came across an article that suggested this app and it’s my favorite music app yet! I get to record my ideas and see if it works or not. It helps to be prepared for studio time as well. I like this app so much I’ve recommended it to many of my song writing friends.

Sometimes the audio cuts off and I have to close and Re open the app

My knowledge base is I’d say beginner/intermediate and I pick UIs up pretty quickly but I have no editing or audio engineering background. My project: To efficiently edit a humorous clip together from a game with my friends. I was able to easily grab any mp3 or sound file on my phone, open it in the app, and trim, cut, louden, quieten, distort, whatever I wanted (with even MORE options with Pro), save the end result to my phone and then “paste” it in Apple iMovie to perfectly overlay it over gameplay. All without ever leaving my phone. And without any background or knowledge in audio or editing. I can only imagine what kind of things people with those talents could use this app for. Highly recommended.

I love this app so much, being a rookie mixer! I wish there was a way, instead of having just undo and redo, having the ability to have a memory of the undos and redos. That way you can choose which action was undone or redone without a queue. Or you can undo earlier adjustments without affecting more recent adjustments. I love how you can record over your voice and build layers for harmonies!!!! I do also wish that when you are recording over a song without headphones, you can hear the song play as you record! I literally love everything else about this app. It’s helping a lot as I’m learning to mix!!

Some of the negative reviews make it obvious the user did not try to learn the app or even how their device works with audio. Don’t listen to them. As a professional in the audio/video field for many years, I can highly recommend this app. I use 2 different audio editors for different features each has. Hokusai with the pro upgrades is one of them. Love it!

Pleaseee let us ADD MORE than 30 tracks to each song. Atleast give us 100 if that’s possible so we don’t have to copy and paste it to another song to keep going it’s annoying

This has been my favorite audio editor on the iPad for quire some time, I love it. What are the odds we may see it available for Mac at some point? I’d happily pay a second time!

I like that app

After really trying to use this app That to this date has no updates It's seems that they couldn't care about fixing the bugs in this program or are unwilling . The touch screen sensitivity is almost non existent. The slowness of the app to react is almost as aggravating as waiting for the product to load on your iPad Pro 2020 only to watch the app shut it self down or go black screen, in the middle of a show ... not good . after showing the CS staff at Hokusai the issue on video and pictures they're trying to tell me it's on my side.

Unless I’m missing something, all these wave editing apps are useless on your phones or iPads, as there is no way to get your edited sound files back into your devices without the use of iTunes, which is a Windows program. I’ve purchased two or three of these apps now at significant cost, only to find that once I’ve edited material, there’s no way to get them back into my music library. I write my own songs and backing tracks and import them into my iPad via iTunes or iMazing, but after editing and saving to dropbox I am now unable to get them back onto my device for use. Am I right? If I am, then why purchase them? I long for days now past, when companies produced products without the need for secrecy or subterfuge, products that were so well done and worked so well for the purchaser that the corporations were insured a bright profitable future because they built great products. This is capitalism at its best- The Hokusai team contacted me to tell me that I can do anything I want with the files except what I want. The program is fine as far as it goes but I stand by my point: for anyone who wants to edit performance music on their iPads or iPhones they are useless. If you can’t get your edited files back into your device without a Windows computer and iTunes, tell me what the programs are good for? Not blaming Hokusai . . blaming Apple-

Amazing app. It helped my wife mixed a few tracks for her school project with the kids. Not sure why this app doesn’t have more popularity, mostly being free. Highly recommend!!

This app is perfect. For all who read this, I recommend purchasing the $10 upgrade. It is very much worth your money.

I really love this app. It’s like a virtual recording studio! It also works as a great sampler for vocals and instruments that have already been recorded (by using one device to record from another device)! You just have to angle the recording device properly for a recording to sound good on playback. However, I really hope that a future update includes a pitch correction feature that makes it possible to change the vocal formant, and not the timbre, when changing the pitch of voices. This app should have the optional ability to separate the timbre from the pitch. In other words, there should be a feature that is able to maintain instead of sounding like Darth Vader when lowering the pitch, and like Chipmunks when raising the pitch, the timbre should stay the same throughout the range of pitches. As far as the minor issue is concerned, the app crashes after so many hours of work, and then when I re-open the app, it takes awhile for all of my files to re-appear. Hopefully this issue can be resolved in a future update, and that the additional feature can be added. Otherwise, this app is a must-have for all!

nice and clever

I use text-to-speech technology. Easy to use. I do have to turn off the "voicover" on Ipad in order to stretch out the wave. Best editing app I have found to use with voiceover.

I love this app. I’ve been making fun recordings and listening to them. But after a pretty long time of using it, it’s starting to have some issues. Every time I try making recordings, it keeps giving me a blank screen and taking me to the status bar with a screen reader I’m using called VoiceOver. I really don’t know what the real issue is, but my guess is that it may need some updates.

I’ve been using this app for a few years to edit music, and it works like a charm. It’s super easy to use and I would totally recommend it.

Confusing, unable to edit music and put in music library

Absolutely love this app, i can literally make quality music bangers. You can literally adjust anything, it’s a matter of your imagination.

I have been looking for something alone the lines of an iOS version of Audacity and this app fills the bill. I sprung for the Pro version and am very pleased! I have a lot of audio files that I need to edit on my iPad and don’t want to add non musical files to my Cubasis library as there are already too many files there. I also didn’t want to carry my laptop where Audacity lives. This was the perfect solution! Thanks to the devs for this truly useful audio editing utility. Well worth the price!

I’ve been in the music business for 50 years and I have produced major label quality CDs and worked internationally. I’ve been told that I have good years and know how to create unique sounds. I especially love to record out of doors and capture the sounds of the city or the songs of birds etc. this app has become my go to, and other than my DAW, most of my projects will start with Hokusai 2. It is absolutely intuitive, and with very few exceptions does pretty much everything that I wanted to. I do have big hands and sometimes I get frustrated with the size of my phone screen. But then I got an iPad and man oh man did I go to town. I started with a free app but then after about a week I was like “I must have more!” One of the more fascinating tools I use is the noise reduction where in you sample a tiny section of NOISE and then run it through the program and that noise is removed. It’s really fantastic and I’ve communicated with the developers and they’re really good about getting back to me. They’re very nice people and I’ve been sharing my ideas with them and one thing I would like to reiterate here is it be nice to have a return to zero (RTZ) function as well as a mute button on each track. With this app and the trio of aps from Amplify one almost doesn’t need a DAW to make great music.

To get straight to the point, I love this app. Closest thing to Audacity on the App Atore, and meets all my audio editing needs, and I was really excited to move all my work over to my iPad. However, there’s one major thing holding this app back for me. The track limit. The mixing work I do and the projects I’m in typically require at LEAST 10 tracks, typically more. However the limit in the app is only 6 tracks, which I find very limiting. I’m on a 2020 model iPad Pro so I know it could very sasily handle much more. Please raise the track limit even if just for premium members to something like 20.

Used to be a great app. Out of nowhere became completely unusable.

When I press on the Library, it flashes for a second and then disappears. Makes the app useless for me.

Love this App

It was the only audio editing app that was able to do what I needed. It works great and is easy to use.

I bought this because I wanted to be able to down pitch my music to 432, but the pitch adjuster doesn’t allow you to type in the value. Instead, you have a knob that’s way too skinny to get the exact frequency you want. Please upgrade it.

I never have any issues at all, the app works great every time with everything I’ve ever needed to do. I use it to store the audios I get off of websites like YouTube. It doesn’t pull audios from those websites but I can send them over to Hokusai seamlessly. It imports audios straight from the Apple Music app seamlessly (don’t know about iTunes). It’s very easy to edit, copy, paste, silence, fade in or out, overlap multiple audios and more. I haven’t even used all the features yet but it has worked very well.

I’m writing another review because even after an update, there is no mp3 feature. It could be the best audio editor ever with that. I’m looking forward to see another app which will do exactly what Hokusai is doing and will add MP3 feature. I’ll stop using this app that day, if they are yet to add the feature. I do love this app and I’ve been using it everyday for more than 3 years now. But I have to take it out to another app to get it on MP3. Makes no sense.

Great app in a very limited market of audio tool boxes. Love you family of apps just want more ways to use them. We need a DAW from you!

I bought the pro version and I can’t stress how much I love it. I make audios for my instagram edits, so unlocking the pitch shift and frequency settings is a really cool feature for my audios. I also use it all the time to slow songs down and listen to them on repeat. Overall this app is so fun to mess around with and get creative with outside audios like sound effects and voice overs, highly recommend unlocking pro version too.

Perfect for simple snipping of long mp3s into bite-sized pieces. Extremely easy to use and well documented!

So I was a former user of audacity so I’m still getting used to it, but it’s a great app for free has all needed tools for free some extra tools are needed to purchase. A great iPad alternative to audacity. No complaints a 100% recommend.
